There's no reason why we can't keep playing after we sit on the Throne. To be honest a lore related purpose doesn't justify a glorified fail state in my eyes. That's when the problem starts coming into full swing. The second time around I'd still be wanting to get farther - to loop. It would be my reward for getting as far as I did. In a hypothetical situation where I did get to the Throne and beat it for the very first time, I would accept the cutscene more or less with open arms. People don't want to get used to it because it's as the saying goes.Īlso you misunderstood me. Now it's something that people have to get used to but no one actually wants to. Like you said, you wouldn't have minded it if your first time reaching the Throne had involved an ending. You hit the nail on the head regarding how you feel about it being a "failure state:" it's just people being stuck in the past. They apparently serve a lore-related purpose and there's no longer an issue with the Throne running past them if you can play even remotely carefully. Originally posted by riantDeliration:I don't really have an issue with Generators as they currently are. I just wanted to make sure my thoughts were expressed clearly. So I want to clarify again: This is just my opinion on generators, as an average NT player, who only makes it to the Throne once out of every four or so runs. I also know a lot of the arguments people might like to toss at me will just be "git gud". As it stands the generators don't add anything to the experience, they just take away from it. It doesn't need to be removed completely, just changed, rethought. That said I feel like you won't actually change anything because you feel like we'll just get over it, which is why I'm starting this discussion. I understand that you're the developer and you know what's best for your game, and I also know that you understand sometimes fans should be ignored in favor of what actually makes sense. The vans were different they added something new. They're still a completely unnecessary layer to the boss fight. Sure, eventually people will come to accept the generators, but that doesn't change anything. Right now I feel like we're in a similar state. If you think back to the van update, people complained and complained, but after a while everyone quit fussing. Maybe I'm just stuck in my ways and don't like change. If this had been my first time beating the Throne, had my victory condition aligned with what the game's victory condition was, I would be satisfied. By ending the run, defeating the Throne is just as damning as having died to it. ![]() The problem lies in that this ending isn't the victory that it displays itself to be. This is supposed to mean that I've won, that I've beaten the game. Since two updates ago most of my better runs end with getting to the Throne, failing to blow up the generators, and watching the credits roll by with a neat little victory cutscene. Except there is just one problem: Looping isn't the goal the game has set for me. For a while now my goal for each run has been to beat Throne 2 and officially loop. Each time I got to that point I could mark that run off as a victory. That goal used to be as simple as getting past the Crystal Caves, which evolved into defeating Lil' Hunter, to getting to the Throne, and so on. When I play Nuclear Throne I set a goal for myself.
